I'd say the Nano. It's small and light-weight, you don't even notice it's there. You're just using it for audio purposes when working out, so nothing bigger is needed.
The shuffle is in my opinion better. It doesn't shut off if dropped or when you jog over a long period of time like the nano can. It also clips to your clothes so you don't have to buy an attachment to clip to something. For $80-$90 dollars you can't beat the shuffle if you want to stick with apple brands.

I work out frequently...What IPod is best for someone that jogs, and weight lifts?

What do you think about the new Air Macbook?
Cons-
Expensive, can't replace the battery, connectivity issues....and it just came out, give me more time.
Pros-
Light weight, thin...., but so is a BlackBerry
Washed and dried my Shuffle the other day in the washer and dryer only to find that it still works perfect, and is now really clean.
